What to do with Plums!

Black Amber, Catalina and Prune plums, all in a beautiful basket from Ten Thousand Villages. Black Amber plums are great for puddings, pies and sauces, Catalinas are sweet, juicy and firm, even when ripe, and the flavour of Prune plums intensifies when cooked, like in a cobbler, for instance.

Famous for our corn

This is such a wonderful time of year for people who love to buy fresh produce and support local farmers!  Our corn is picked fresh every day on the home farm and people come from miles around to get it in season.

Sweet, Fresh, Local Figs

I never grew up with figs, so other than Fig Newtons, I never ate them.  Then I was introduced to them!  Juicy, sweet crunch!

Here's a  super-easy recipe from Bon Appetit:

Sweet & Salty Fig Toast


Seeded Bread, Neufchatel Cheese, Figs, Olive Oil, Honey, Flaky Sea Salt        

Spread toasted seeded bread with softened Neufchatel cheese.  Top with sliced ripe figs and drizzle with olive oil and honey. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
